TJ Devoe struts a heady electronic appeal on new EP, Natural Phenomena, whose four tracks were recorded from his woodland home studio in Northwest Louisiana. The Chicago native continues to hone in on this promising solo endeavor following years of playing as a drummer for artists, rappers, and DJs. The EP is described as such: “From an abstract perspective, it is a series of sketches representing a deep appreciation for the splendor of the natural world.”

“Chordata” opens the EP with a steady momentum, as sporadic whirring shifts into a hypnotic glistening effect. A throbbing, darker synth-bass and reflective percussive pit-patter further that intrigue, casting a late-night glow in the use of sporadic synth effervescence alongside murkier bass movements. “Sun Belt” follows with a warmer embrace, as fuzzy bass tones combine with chilled-out synths for an atmospheric, immersive success.

Continuing the atmospheric success, “Roan” struts a debonair composure in its bouncy bass drive and playful synth spurts, while the DÄDBÖD Remix of “Chordata” ends the EP with a satiating, spacey twist on the memorable opener. The Natural Phenomena EP is an unmistakable success from TJ Devoe.
