If you’re looking for a perfect NYC venue with skyline views, The Rooftop at Pier 17 is your place. Not only does this venue bring magic to the music scene – Chance Peña and KALEO brought over a SOLD OUT crowd to fill up the space.

Starting off the night (right on time, nonetheless) was 24-year old Chance Peña, who is most well known to be a former contestant on The Voice at just 15 years old. His kind aura kept the crowd intrigued, while he showcased his recent single “in my room” which is certified gold with over 300 million streams! Chance was complemented with a drummer, guitarist, bassist, and female backup vocalist, while he also played guitar himself.

The Rooftop at Pier 17’s intimate yet panoramic sunset setting was ideal for Peña’s style, allowing his delicate vocals and intricate guitar work to shine. Peña’s connection with the audience was palpable, as he shared anecdotes and insights behind his songs, creating a personal and engaging experience. Not only was Chance ecstatic to be opening for KALEO, he was also celebrating his new album Ever-Shifting being dropped just that day.

As the rooftop filled up quickly, the crowd was ready for KALEO to take the stage. The Icelandic Blues Rock band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Jökull Júlíusson, drummer Davíð Antonsson, bassist Daniel Kristjánsson, lead guitarist Rubin Pollock and harmonicist Þorleifur Gaukur Davíðsson. Fitting for the upcoming election, the band opened up with their electrifying song “USA Today” with an intro and outro lyric of: So here we are / Fighting for America / Fighting for a new day / Tryin’ hard to change / USA today – which shows that even people outside of this country sees us hurting. Nonetheless, that opening song made the crowd even more ready for what was to come.

KALEO’s setlist was a mix of their classic hits and new material, each song delivered with the kind of fervor that has become their trademark. A memorable fun moment of the night was when their hit song “Hot Blood” came to an end and Júlíusson walked off stage while the rest of the band performed an extended outro. Following that, songs like “Way Down We Go” and “No Good” were met with thunderous applause, as their powerful riffs and potent vocals were reverberating off the surrounding skyscrapers. To close, KALEO boosted a 2-song encore with “Glass House” and their newest hit, “Rock N Roller”.

For those who were lucky enough to attend, it was a night of unforgettable music and a testament to the power of live performance. For those who missed it, it’s clear that both Chance Peña and KALEO are artists to watch, and if they come to a venue near you, don’t miss the opportunity to experience their music firsthand.
