Emminen, Oscars2020, MusicPerformance

The 2020 Oscars were all about the big winners of the night – Brad Pitt, Laura Dern, Renée Zellweger, Joaquin Phoenix, and Bong Joon Ho the best picture winner for “Parasite“. But when it came to the entertainment, it was the music performances that kept us glued to our seats. Check out our Top 3 Music Performances of the night!

Janelle Monae opened with a medley of songs that included “It’s A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood“, and Elton John’s “Still Standing” from the movie Rocketman, as she celebrated the music in films. Her “in your face” performance was brilliant, the perfect way to open at the Oscars.

Billy Eilish played tribute to those who have passed  – the renowned actors, filmmakers, and craftsmen in films, with her cover of the Beatles classic, “Yesterday“.  Her performance of the song was touching and emotional. simply beautiful. We just love her more and more every time that she performs.

The Oscars also celebrated and played tribute to some of the best music in motion pictures with a montage with few moments in films that have truly moved their audiences. Included were Simple Minds – “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” from the film the “Breakfast Club”, Peter Gabriel – “In Your Eyes” from the film Say Anything, and the Whitney Houston hit – “I Will Always Love You” from the film The Bodyguard – just to name a few. It was great to watch the way those songs and films are remembered.

The montage would end with a clip from the Award-Winning 2003 film, 8 Mile, leading into our top 3 performances of the night. Eminem came out and performed his hit “Lose Yourself” from the film, 18 years after it was nominated for and won an Oscar. And although we can’t say that his performance was flawless and that maybe it would have been a lot better back in 2003, Marshall still did his thang and looked good doing it. It’s just like he says on the song, ‘You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime“. We agree with you Marshall, well done!
