An opening like that is welcome and that is down to the way Oxford’s Danny Mellin has chords deployed that are loose and ready to confront all-comers. A bit like the way he dispatches the words like he is throwing frisbee so we have a self-assured and free spirit to contend with. A rarity these days and something that is required listening for those on the line for something organic and spirited. ‘Same Again’ may draw from the past, Blur and the Smiths in particular but it still feels like a step forward in an exciting new direction too.
