Los Angeles-based artist Coreena B struts a glistening pop appeal on new single “Dreamland,” lyrically depicting an “I’m in cloud nine,” amiability amidst melodic vocal layers and glistening keys. Depictions of a blissful escape pair cohesively with the approachably effervescent pop production, drawing inspiration from the inventive yet hook-filled works of artists like AG Cook and Charli XCX.
“The world feels a bit dark right now, so I wanted to make an escapist track that felt good,” Coreena B explains. “In my mind, I kept picturing the kids in Peter Pan flying over the clock tower into Neverland- I think sometimes it’s good to have a place of escape when things get really real, and that’s what I wanted this song to be for people.”
“We can close our eyes when the world stops,” Coreena sings amidst the brightly magnetic keys and clap-friendly percussion. “We can run and they’ll never catch us.” Visions of venturing into a peaceful serenity, with a beloved by your side, are enjoyably conveyed — invigorating into the title-touting central hook. “Dreamland, dreamland,” the vocals let out there, attaining a crisply replay-inducing charm in its lovely production. “Dreamland” is a strongly memorable track from Coreena B.
