Y Share New Single, ‘Hate.’

London indie outfit Y have unleashed their latest single, ‘Hate,’ today, offering another glimpse into their highly anticipated self-titled debut EP. Available for vinyl pre-order now, “Y” is set to drop on April 4th via Hideous Mink Records (home to Alien Chicks and Opus Kink) and SO Recordings (Enter Shikari, Deadletter, Big Special).

Formed by members with connections to Fat White Family, Meatraffle, and Pregoblin, Y exploded onto the scene last month with their debut track, ‘Why.’ The single garnered immediate acclaim from prominent music publications including DIY, Dork, So Young, The Line Of Best Fit, and Rough Trade, alongside significant airplay on BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq, Amy Lamé, Emily Pilbeam) and Radio X (John Kennedy).

Of the new single, the band state,

‘Hate’ is a love song. It is a homage to the downtrodden and a celebration of everyday anguish and petty resentments we all feel. Birthed on a rainy day, with little money in the bank, ‘Hate’ was written in response to a hilarious moment of self reflection. It is a love song inverted, it is a hate song.

Signed to the collaborative force of Hideous Mink and SO Recordings, Y have forged a sound that defies easy categorization, brimming with audacious creativity. Their electrifying live performances have already earned them support slots with Fat Dog and Keg, further solidifying their reputation as a formidable live act. To celebrate the release of their debut EP, Y will headline London’s legendary 100 Club in April, a pivotal moment as they solidify their position as one of the most compelling new bands emerging from London’s scene.
