Johnny Vitulli Releases New Single ‘Bronx Love’

Singer-songwriter and guitarist Johnny Vitulli releases his latest single, ‘Bronx Love’.

Bringing together organic textures through finger picked acoustic guitars before moving towards a more psych-indie-rock soundscape with addition of swirling electric guitar tones and Public Service Broadcasting-esque sampling. Gentle and pop facing thanks to its predominantly acoustic singer-songwriter sound pallet, the track balances its commercial elements with an alternative undercurrent.

Lyrically, the song explores the contrasts of the borough, highlighting both its challenges and its sense of resilience. Vitulli was inspired to write ‘Bronx Love’ during a drive through the Bronx with his father. After seeing scenes of hardship in the streets, his father remarked, “The Bronx is love,” which became the foundation for the song’s theme.

“Our lives were chaotic and uncertain growing up, but we could always rely on the professionalism and consistency of the Yankees,” says Vitulli. “Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera represented stability and something to believe in. Yankee Stadium was a refuge from the difficulties of the city.” The song attempts to capture the contrast between the everyday struggles of the Bronx and the sense of escape provided by the stadium.

Originally from New York, Vitulli has played music in various countries, including Australia, Thailand, New Zealand, and Italy. After more than 15 years in bands, he transitioned to a solo career, writing songs that reflect his personal experiences. Now based in Los Angeles, he continues to create and perform music.
