There are few songs that get as personal as ‘Call it a Night’ and it showcases New Zealand’s Lisa Crawley nailing a moment where both parties have reached a crossroads and the situation needs to be handled ever so sensitively. And there is allure in what emerges, a ballad that is subtle as can be right down to those fleeting brass scenes that add to the majesty of the piece. I would have thought such things were too country/pop/love song for me but no this is an artist who has that magic ingredient to draw us in and keep us there contentedly. KH
