Folklore Records Release ‘Folklore Vol. 2’, Showcasing Four Rising Songwriters

Folklore Records has announced the release of Folklore Volume 2, the second instalment in its acclaimed compilation series, arriving July 25. Following the success of Folklore Volume 1—which featured artists including Bess Atwell and George Ogilvie, earning over 3 million Spotify streams and selling out its vinyl run—this new chapter highlights four distinctive songwriters from the UK and beyond.

Founded in 2014 by Brighton-based songwriter Jacko Hooper, Folklore began as an intimate pub night dedicated to celebrating songwriting in its purest form. Over the years, it has grown into one of the UK’s most influential songwriting communities, with its own venue, The Folklore Rooms, hosting live music seven nights a week. The Folklore label has since worked with artists such as Gabrielle Aplin, Axel Flóvent, and Katherine Priddy, further expanding its reach and reputation.

Folklore Volume 2 opens with Nierra Creek’s “Burn Out The Fire,” an emotionally charged, atmospheric track recorded at Abbey Road Studios. The Brighton-based duo weave warm production and anthemic crescendos into their signature indie-folk sound. Quaking Aspens follow with “Flume,” a lush and dreamlike alt-folk piece pairing Carla D’Amore’s emotive vocals with Samuel Smith’s intricate arrangements, creating a track rich in lyrical depth and atmosphere.

San Francisco artist Adam Spry’s “Tangled” brings a raw, folk-tronica edge to the collection. Written, recorded, and produced largely by Spry himself, it merges lo-fi textures with deeply personal storytelling, showcasing his distinctive DIY approach. Closing the EP, Mezanmi’s “This Time Yesterday” delivers a cinematic slow-burner that builds from glitchy minimalism to an intense emotional climax, reflecting Fran O’Hanlon’s continued evolution as an artist.

Together, these four tracks form a rich, pensive, and heartfelt collection that reflects Folklore’s mission to champion authentic songwriting. The release will be celebrated with a launch event at The Folklore Rooms in Brighton, featuring Nierra Creek, Quaking Aspens, and Mezanmi, followed by select live dates.
