Lady Gaga will be performing at the 2025 MTV VMAs.
The singer is leading the nominations this year, with 12 nods to her name. Her ‘Die With A Smile’ collaborator Bruno Mars comes in a close second, up for 10 awards, while Kendrick Lamar is nominated for 10. They are the only artists with double-digit nominations this year.
Now, it’s been revealed that she’ll be returning to the MTV Video Music Awards on September 7, marking her first performance on the show in five years.
MTV announced the news on Twitter/X, writing: “Need all of my fellow Little Monsters to COME TO THE FRONT! Why, you ask?! Oh, because MOTHER MONSTER HERSELF IS PERFORMING AT THE 2025 #VMAs!!!!”
However, Gaga does have a Mayhem Ball concert scheduled for the same night at New York’s Madison Square Garden, meaning her performance will likely be broadcast from that venue, rather than her appearing at the UBS Arena.
Her last VMA performance was in 2020, where she delivered a medley of ‘Chromatica’ songs alongside guest Ariana Grande; the pair also won Song of the Year that night for ‘Rain on Me’, while Gaga was awarded Artist of the Year.
She now joins previously announced performers Sabrina Carpenter, J Balvin and Busta Rhymes.
The coveted Video of the Year award is being contested between Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars, Rosé & Bruno Mars, Sabrina Carpenter, and The Weeknd & Playboi Carti.
This year, the VMAs are introducing two new categories this year: Best Pop Artist and Best Country. Check out the full list of nominations here.
