GRAMMY-nominated Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett is back with her latest single, “Stay In Your Lane,” released today via Mom+Pop Music. The track marks her first new song since the critically acclaimed Things Take Time, Take Time and her first vocal-led material following last year’s instrumental release End Of The Day. With its sharp lyrics and unmistakable guitar work, “Stay In Your Lane” highlights Barnett’s continued mastery as both a songwriter and a rock guitarist.
Packed with jagged guitar riffs, a driving rhythm section, and Barnett’s signature razor-sharp lyricism, the track opens with her defiant chorus: “Gotta get this off my chest / This never would’ve happened if I stayed in my lane, stayed the same way.”
The single is accompanied by a bold, sometimes unsettling video directed by filmmaker Alex Ross Perry (Pavements), reflecting the song’s raw energy and intensity.
Barnett has been quietly testing new material during intimate live shows at Levon Helm Studios and in Joshua Tree, offering fans early glimpses of her next chapter. She will bring the single to a national audience with a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, October 22, signalling a full return to the spotlight.
