There is a real old school production value to this Son of Jacob song and it allows us listeners to concentrate on the important things, namely the melodies and the harmonies that so populated this sixties leaning effort. ‘Friends’ is good company, loose jangle with a singer in Will Jacobson who is high on life. There were reminders of Wings from way back in the day, the chords so prog redolent they felt positively wholesome. So there is a treasure trove to fall head over heels for, not least the way the instrumental break at the end suggests a happy ever after might be just be possible after all. KH
