Volume two of the final season of the hit show was released on Christmas Day (December 25) in the US and the early hours of Boxing Day in the UK, with episodes five to seven continuing the ultimate showdown between the people of Hawkins and the evil Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).

The final episode – ‘The Rightside Up’ – which is two hours and seven minutes long, will drop on Netflix at 5pm PT tomorrow (December 31) in the US and 1am on New Years Day in the UK.

The final trailer sees Jim Hopper (David Harbour) giving Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) a pep talk ahead of her final showdown with Vecna. You can view it below.

It comes after reports that volume two achieved one of the lowest fan ratings in the show’s history with volume two’s conclusion, Chapter Seven: The Bridge, among the show’s worst received.

The episode, which saw the heroic group of friends prepare for one last battle on the anniversary of Will Byers’ (Noah Schnapp) disappearance, scored 6.7 out of 10 from 22,000 votes. At the time of writing, it is the second worst rated episode, above only 2017’s The Lost Sister (six out of 10). The highest rated episode is currently season four’s Chapter Seven: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab.

In a four-star review of volume one, NME wrote: “Perhaps inevitably, volume one feels a lot like an appetiser for the rest of the season. But even in piecemeal form, Stranger Things has a flair for epic and emotionally resonant storytelling. After all those years, this smart, big-hearted sci-fi show still has the power to turn your head upside down.”

According to creator Ross Duffer via Variety, 1.1million people have RSVP’d to experience the Stranger Things finale in cinemas. He also claimed that 3,500 showtimes in more than 620 theatres have sold out.

Elsewhere, Jamie Campbell Bower made a surprise appearance last week at the Broadway spinoff The First Shadow.
