A mysterious Fallout-inspired countdown has appeared on the Amazon Prime Video website, with a big reveal set to coincide with the end of season two.

The second season of Amazon’s Fallout adaptation takes heavy influence from the beloved Fallout: New Vegas. The season premiered last month with new episodes released weekly.

A dedicated Fallout season two website has also been sharing BTS clips and links to various pieces of merch, but a new countdown has recently appeared which has fans stumped. The countdown is currently set to end February 4, which is the same day that the Fallout season two finale will hit streaming.

Fallout season three has already been confirmed so that won’t be the big reveal, while filming is set to start later this year, so a teaser for the next batch of episodes has also been ruled out.

However many Fallout fans are expecting a remastered classic to be unveiled on February 4. “I’m keeping my expectations low for now but the Xbox Developer Direct is just a few days away and a Fallout 3 remaster seems almost plausible. A New Vegas remaster is also expected to arrive with Season 3 so we’ll see,” one fan wrote on Reddit.

“Back when Fallout 4 released, there were a ton of reports/rumours that a Fallout 3 remaster with ‘updated graphics and looting/inventory mechanics’ was already in the works and then I feel like I never heard anything about that since,” added another. “Smart money’s on a Fallout 3 remaster,” said a third.

Back in October, New Vegas actor Danny Trejo demanded a remaster for its 15th anniversary. The same day, series boss Todd Howard promised the team were hard at work on “that thing you want.”

“Just know we are [also] working on even more. We are looking forward to the day when we can share that with everybody,” he added.

It’s safe to say the countdown won’t be anything to do with the long-awaited Fallout 5 though. The game is set to launch after The Elder Scrolls 6, which isn’t expected to release before 2028, but will be inspired by what happens in the live-action Amazon adaptation.

In other news, Grand Theft Auto games set in Tokyo, Moscow and Rio De Janeiro almost happened but were deemed “too leftfield”.
