Forever favorites And Also the Trees have returned with “The Silver Key” a shimmering new single that serves as the first taste of new music from The Devil’s Door, the band’s seventeenth studio record and the third with the current lineup of brothers Justin and Simon Huw Jones, drummer Paul Hill, bassist Grant Gordon, and clarinetist and multi-instrumentalist Colin Ozanne.
As always, And Also the Trees continue to delight, enchant, and deliver with a masterful mood piece. “The Silver Key” opens with a shimmering guitar line that evokes the beauty and texture of an electric mandolin. As the track takes flight, the rhythm section locks in beautifully, providing a slinky shuffle that is immediately seductive and alluring. The centerpiece of the track are the band’s trademark baritone vocals, swaying elegantly with the instruments with in perfect synchronicity. Each word is as masterfully chosen as ever, painting an impressionistic portrait of an ominous moonlit stroll through a crumbling European city, an evocative feeling that is perfectly mirrored in Sébastien Faits-Divers‘ stunning video for the track.
