Zayn Malik has seemingly taken a swipe at Harry Styles by making a comment about ticket prices at a recent live show.

The singer is currently nearing the end of a seven-night residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he has debuted some unreleased material – including the song ‘Die For Me’.

During last night’s show (Wednesday January 28), Malik appeared to subtly make a dig at his former One Direction bandmate Styles.

“Who’s from Vegas? Who’s from elsewhere?” he asked the crowd. “I just want to say a big, big thank you to each and every single one of you for being here with me tonight. You could’ve been anywhere, [but] you decided to spend your night with me.”

Malik then added a lighthearted remark about how much money fans had spent to attend the concert. “Hopefully the ticket prices weren’t too high – just saying!” he grinned, before shrugging. “Anyway!…”

Many fans have interpreted the comment as a nod to the conversations around the ticket prices for Styles’ upcoming shows at Wembley Stadium. Pre-sales for this summer’s shows went live earlier this week, ahead of the general sale tomorrow (Friday January 30).

Ticketmaster confirmed that tickets were priced by the organiser at between £44.10 to £466.25 (including fees), in addition to a per-order handling fee of £2.95. Ticket prices will not change during the pre-sale or on-sale, suggesting that Ticketmaster’s controversial ‘dynamic pricing’ function will not be used. Rear pitch standing tickets cost £144.65 each, while front section standing is priced at £198.95 per ticket. Pit standing tickets will set fans back £279.45 each.

Some customers weren’t impressed, calling the prices “absolutely insane”. Another person wrote: “£466 in this economy are you SERIOUS???!!!!”

In comparison, standard tickets for Malik’s Vegas shows cost between $92.98 (£67.30) and $223.39 (£162), per Ticketmaster. However, there are currently some ‘Premium’ tickets on the site for up to $479.81 (£347). The most expensive ‘Verified Resale’ ticket costs $609.28 (£441), at the time of writing.
