Man arrested for sexual assault at Gunna’s London show at The O2

Gunna at London's The O2

A man was arrested for sexual assault at Gunna’s O2 Arena show in London on Wednesday March 25, police have confirmed.

After the concert, part of the rapper’s ‘Wun World’ tour, a woman posted on social media that another attendee had sexually assaulted her. He “ruined my whole experience at Gunna,” she said, per Hip Hop Hero, adding, “I spent my whole night crying and in disgust.”

She then posted a video of the man who allegedly assaulted her being escorted out of the venue by security guards.

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement (via BBC) that officers were called to the North Greenwich venue at about 8:20pm on the evening of the show and said that a woman in her 20s was approached from behind by a 26-year-old man who was “swiftly” arrested.

The man remained in police custody as of Friday morning (March 27), and specially-trained officers are supporting the woman. The Met added that it is prioritising women’s safety by working with venues to provide training for staff, and The O2 said that security and police “attended promptly” and added: “We are aware of an isolated incident that occurred inside the arena during Wednesday night’s event.

“The matter is now being handled by the Metropolitan Police. Our priority is always the safety and wellbeing of our guests and we are assisting with their inquiries.”

The following night, Gunna played Manchester’s AO Arena, and he’s set to play two shows at Amsterdam’s AFAS Live over the weekend before returning to The O2 for a second London show on March 31.

The rapper, real name Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, is touring his most recent album, ‘The Last Wun’, which he released in August last year. He’s also set to play the Afrobeats festival Afro Nation in Portugal in July, and was due to appear at Rhythm + Waves in June until the festival announced its cancellation last month.
