Jamie Dornan has revealed in his Saturday Night Live UK monologue that he likes to collect rocks that look like potatoes.
The Irish star hosted the comedy show’s second episode over the weekend (March 28), joking he is the star of “your auntie’s favourite dreams”.
However, during the bit, he spoke about his unusual hobby, sharing: “I’m not just a sex symbol who looks sexy in everything he does, but I am also a guy who collects rocks that look like potatoes.”
After bringing out his collection, he beamed: “Look at these gorgeous little things. And no, this isn’t a joke. God knows, I wish it was.”
Dornan also encouraged viewers to Google “Jamie Dornan potato rocks”, joking: “Seriously, this is who you want to sleep with?”
The monologue also featured a cameo by comedian and The IT Crowd star Chris O’Dowd, who quipped: “That’s right, it’s me, your greatest enemy and personal friend. Couldn’t help but notice that you’re showing off your spud rocks again.”
He proceeded to reveal he had replaced one of Dornan’s rocks with a real potato, which “wasn’t even Irish”.
The second SNL UK episode featured sketches parodying the former Prince Andrew, Jools Holland and British holidaygoers who spend their time abroad in British-themed pubs, while Wolf Alice were the musical guests.
Like the previous weekend’s premiere, the show continued to divide viewers, one calling it “weak” and “ineffectual”, while another suggested it “has good potential so far” and viewers should “give it a chance”.
Dornan succeeded Tina Fey as the show’s second-ever host, with last week’s debut including spoofs of Prime Minister Keir Starmer (which was reposted by US President Donald Trump) and Princess Diana among others, as well as cameos from Graham Norton, Nicola Coughlan and Michael Cera, while Wet Leg provided the music.
This coming weekend’s edition of SNL UK will be overseen by Riz Ahmed alongside musical guests Kasabian.
