Isle of Wight Breakouts ugly ozo Hit the ‘Jackpot’ Ahead of New EP

Isle of Wight indie favourites ugly ozo have released their pulsating new single, “jackpot,” marking the final reveal before their highly anticipated dive EP arrives on May 1st via REX RECS. The ever-evolving vision of Jessica Baker, supported by sister Boo Baker and drummer Tristan Northard, the band has rapidly ascended the ranks of the emerging indie landscape. Recorded at the renowned REX Studio, a creative hub for the likes of Caroline Polachek and Daniel Avery, the new project serves as a bold sonic diary exploring the messy, unfiltered corners of the female experience with electrifying hooks.

Of the single, Jessica Baker details,

“‘jackpot’ is definitely the flirtiest track off the EP, with a strong sense of female empowerment and a healthy touch of innuendo. It’s about wanting someone badly, while making them work for it- and not giving the game away too quickly.”

The trio’s momentum has been undeniable, earning a “championed” status across the board from DIY, Dork, and The Line of Best Fit, alongside heavy rotation from BBC 6 Music titans like Iggy Pop and Steve Lamacq. Following a sold-out London headliner at the Sebright Arms earlier this month, ugly ozo are now gearing up for a massive summer on the festival circuit, including appearances at The Great Escape and Dot to Dot. This new era finds the band blending raw vulnerability with a newfound confidence, carving out a distinct space in the scene as they prepare to join label-mates thistle. on a UK tour this May.
