It was the School Of Rock star’s fifth time hosting SNL, and as has become customary, he was welcomed into the Five-Timers Club by other veteran SNL hosts – this time in the form of Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, Candice Bergen and Melissa McCarthy.

White also made an appearance during the monologue, being greeted by Hill as “Professor Snape”. The musician then quipped that he couldn’t stay long as five-time musical guests “only get their parking validated for 15 minutes” and so he had to “move his hearse”.

With that, Black launched into a rendition of ‘Seven Nation Army’, with White joining on guitar. “I’m gonna make it right / The five-timer army gonna lift the curse / We got the Black and White / He’s shredding his axe while I sing the next verse,” he sang.

White also popped up in a pre-recorded sketch based around a spoof country song titled ‘Words To Live By’, where he stood astride a mountaintop but fluffed his guitar solo when the moment came. Watch here:

White also served as the traditional musical guest, playing his two new songs ‘G.O.D. And The Broken Ribs’ and ‘Derecho Demonico’, which he had released one day earlier. See both performances here.

The new songs mark the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee’s first new music since his Grammy-nominated 2024 album ‘No Name’, which NME awarded four stars and noted: “This is an ode to the mystique of rock’n’roll and to the joy of music at its most physical and playful.

“Teasing doesn’t always lead to satisfaction. Just cut to the chase – and this one’s a bone-rattling ride. White’s revelling in the real world and has made it a much more thrilling place.”

White is also heading out on the road in Europe later this year, with dates kicking off in Latvia on May 30 and wrapping in Belgium on June 17. See the full list here and find any remaining tickets here.

The musician has also been continuing his tirade against Donald Trump in recent months, which most recently has seen him criticising plans to put the President’s signature on all new US paper currency.

He also recently called for Trump’s removal from office after a racist meme was shared on his social media account that depicted Barack and Michelle Obama as apes.
