The Colombian pop star made history last night (Sunday April 12) after becoming the first Latina artist to headline the California festival. “I’m very happy and very proud about this,” she said of the landmark achievement toward the end of her set. “But at the same time, it feels late.

“I just want to say that before me, there were so many legendary Latina artists that gave me the opportunity to be here tonight.”

The triumphant set showcased a variety of sounds from across Latin America, incorporating salsa, reggaeton, and an all-female mariachi band.

She kicked things off with ‘Latina Foreva’, setting the vibe for the culturally celebratory tone of the show. From there, she stormed through fan favourites like ‘El Makinon’ and ‘Papasito’, and was later joined by the mariachi troop for ‘Ese Hombre es Malo’.

The surprise addition of Becky G for their smash collab ‘Mamii’ was the first of the night’s surprises, which over the course of her set saw her work her way through old-school reggaeton cuts before debuting a new track with Cigarettes After Sex.

Before she closed out, she had a reggaeton artist Wisin join her for ‘Pam Pam’, ‘Mayor Que Yo’ and ‘Rakata’. To close out, she performed a cover of Gloria Estefan’s ‘Mi Tierra’ and invited the audience to sing her closing track, ‘Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido’.
