And the award for the Most Gratuitous Use of Umlauts goes to Charlottesville, Virginia stoner rock trio Üga Büga, whose moniker we don’t really get at all. The music, however, is solid on new single, “Divine Slaughter (Backyard Barbecue Bonanza),” which we’re premiering here for you today. The track, taken from upcoming full-length, Valley of the Wolf, is a psychedelic, Southern-fried, stoner wallop with all sorts of twists and turns. A backyard barbecue bonanza, indeed. These dudes—Calloway Jones (guitars/vocals/keys), Niko Cvetanovich (bass/backing vocals/keys), Jimmy Czywczynski (drums/backing vocals)—aren’t afraid to dabble in an assortment of extreme styles through this track and others on their second full-length.

Valley of the Wolf was mixed and engineered by Dave Kaminsky at Studio Wormwood, with Üga Büga and Kaminsky sharing production credit. Mastering was handled by Brian Williams at Augmented Audio. The album is set for release on vinyl and digitally on June 5. You can place your preorder here. And check out the band’s upcoming live dates (below) in support of their new release.
Calloway Jones had this to say about the new track:
“The song is the beginning of chapter two, picking up several months after the events of our first album Year of the Hog. It was the first song we wrote for this record. The song is an account of the Hog army performing a ritual at a backyard barbecue to raise the ancient demons from the earth. It sets the stage for the whole album as we dive deeper into the chaotic world of evil hogmen armies, opposing factions, a mystic witch, a power-hungry snake-wizard, and an anti-heroic wolfman all under the watch of Lovecraftian beasts.”
