Bonnie Tyler has revealed that she underwent emergency surgery in Portugal.
Reps for the ‘80s pop icon shared a statement with fans on her website yesterday (Wednesday May 6), confirming that she had been admitted to hospital in Faro – in the country’s Algarve region – where she owns a home.
“We are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery,” their update read, and they added that she is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery soon.
“The surgery went well, and she is now recuperating. We know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery.”
The statement did not share exactly why she was ushered in for surgery, however outlets including the Daily Mail have reported that she had suffered a perforated intestine after experiencing intense pain in the abdomen.
More details are expected to be shared at a later date.
