The second season of Daredevil: Born Again has wrapped up, but will it be back for a third run? Find out what we know below.
The Disney+ show, created by Dario Scardapane, Matt Corman and Chris Ord, is based on the Marvel Comics character and is a revival and continuation of the MCU series Daredevil, which ran for three seasons from 2015 to 2018.
Season two of Born Again premiered on March 25 and wrapped on May 5, with a synopsis reading: “Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home.”
Charlie Cox returned in the role of Daredevil/Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio was back as Kingpin/Wilson Fisk, with Matthew Lillard, Krysten Ritter, Margarita Levieva and Deborah Ann Woll all co-starring.
The first season of the show was given five stars in a review by NME that concluded: “Daredevil: Born Again does a brilliant job of embedding itself into that shared universe. Events from across the MCU are naturally referenced and there are also a few tantalising teases about what comes next.
“Thankfully, a second season is already in the works. None of that distracts from a tightly wound plot that makes space for emotional growth and more than a few big swings. Nostalgia be damned.”
There is good news for MCU fans and those who have followed Daredevil through the two television series so far – Born Again has indeed been renewed for a third season.
That was confirmed last September by Marvel’s Head of TV, streaming and animation Brad Winderbaum in an interview with IGN. “In terms of Daredevil, yeah, we are greenlit for season three and we start shooting next year,” Winderbaum said at the time.
Scardapane is staying on as showrunner, and filming is taking place between March and July, and the third season is due to premiere on Disney+ in March 2027. It will consist of eight episodes, and will be the latest instalment of Phase Six of the MCU.
It will be set approximately one year after the events of the second season and will expand on Luke Cage’s story arc, following his brief appearance at the end of the last episode.
