Sailor Honeymoon Sweats it Out with Single “Pickle” Release

Sailor Honeymoon, a female punk rock trio actively making waves in both domestic and international indie scenes, has returned on May 26 with their new single, "Pickle."

Having started in Seoul’s underground scene—where they garnered attention for their signature energetic live performances and distorted guitar sounds—the band has spent the past year touring stages across Asia and Europe, steadily expanding their unique artistic territory. Originating as an impromptu jam session between photographer Jang In-hwa (Abi Raymaker) and former DJ Shin Jae-eun (Zaeeun Shin), Sailor Honeymoon has further solidified and deepened their sound with the addition of bassist Kim Ye-rim (Yelim Kim).

Their new track, "Pickle," serves as a continuation of the cynical satire showcased in their previous single, "Armchair," offering listeners a glimpse into the band’s fervent, raucous, and slightly existential worldview.

"It’s a song about those moments when you feel stifled or overwhelmed, so you head to a neighborhood "jjimjilbang" (Korean sauna) to sweat it out in the heat and clear your head. We all love saunas, so we’re always seeking them out whenever we’re on tour."

Set against a backdrop of intense, signature punk rock sonics, "Pickle" combines sharp, catchy songwriting with Sailor Honeymoon’s characteristic witty lyrics, making for a truly entertaining listen.

Following the release of this single, Sailor Honeymoon is gearing up for a summer schedule that promises to be busier than ever before. Kicking off with the Cheorwon DMZ Peace Train Music Festival and Mongolia’s Playtime Festival, August will see them take the stage at major European festivals—including Switzerland’s Sur Le Lac, Norway’s Øya Festival, Finland’s Flow Festival, and the UK’s Green Man Festival—following a session to record new music at Marshall Studios in Milton, UK. Furthermore, they are set to continue their global tour schedule with additional dates, including a headline performance at The Windmill Brixton in London.
