Lee Michelle has poured her life story into her first full-length album, Bliss, a project born from her contemplation on the greatest blessing a person can experience amidst the various moments of life. It has been four full years since her last single release. What message does she bring with this return?
“Good things and bad things alike fulfill their roles in shaping a person’s life; that is the conclusion I’ve reached. Reflecting on myself—even in my mid-thirties, I still don't fully understand who I am—I finally voiced this thought: ‘It is a relief that God knows me.’ I believe the greatest blessing a human being can gain and enjoy in life is knowing God. So, I sang about the God I’ve encountered and the gifts He has bestowed upon me. I am also deeply curious about the lives of those who will listen to this album. What do "you" consider to be the greatest blessing you can gain and enjoy in your own life?”
Lee Michelle gathered lyrics and melodies she had been jotting down from her twenties through her mid-thirties, crafting them into the 9 individual tracks that make up this album.
The title track 'That You' is a CCM song that celebrates the freedom and wholeness found in relationship with God — being able to be themselves, have their needs met, and their sins forgiven — all because of His transformative love. Like a surfer trusting the ocean will calm, Lee Michelle commits to following God no matter the distance or difficulty, praising a love so vast in height, width, and depth that nothing else can compare.
