The first track from Olivier Derivière’s soundtrack for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy has been released – check out ‘This Land’ below:
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a prequel to the beloved action-adventure title A Plague Tale: Innocence. The original story “follows the young, fierce Sophia as she journeys to the Minotaur’s Island, outsmarts deadly foes, unravels ancient secrets, and confronts a mythical creature at the heart of a devastating curse.”
After scoring the first two Plague Tale games, as well as South Of Midnight and Dying Light 2, Olivier Derivière has returned to create the soundtrack for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy.
“Resonance, although part of A Plague Tale universe, is a very different game and therefore needed a fresh musical approach without leaving the core emotions and musical traits of the franchise,” he explained in a press release. The music of Resonance was created using Greek and Cypriot vocalists singing in their native tongue alongside traditional instruments such as Yaylı tambur lutes and rebab spike fiddles. “To employ the native language of the singers really made a difference in the emotional impact on the music. I think this is a musical journey that players won’t forget!”

“‘The Land’ was the first song I wrote for the project. Like most of the soundtrack, it develops and reflects Sophia’s spirit: determined, resilient, and ever-moving forward, yet it also exists beyond the game itself,” Derivière told NME. “On one level, “The Land” is literally about your place of origin, but figuratively it is about yourself: your body, your soul, and your identity. It expresses the idea that Sophia, like anyone else, possesses her own land and spirit with which to journey through life”. The track features vocals from Vasiliki Anastasiou alongside the Amalgamation Choir.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy launches August 27 for PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X/S. It will be a Day One Xbox Game Pass title, while the soundtrack will also hit streaming on release day.
In other news, a brand new Hellraiser video game is set to launch this October featuring an original story crafted alongside Pinhead creator Clive Barker.
