Twin Atlantic Announce Eighth Studio Album ‘Separation From The Animals’ and Share Melancholic New Single

Scottish rock veterans Twin Atlantic have officially announced their eighth studio album, Separation From The Animals, scheduled for release on October 2nd, 2026, via Dance To The Radio. Billed as the band’s most brutally honest and emotionally mature record to date, the announcement is accompanied by the premiere of their simmering, melancholy-drenched new single, “In Your Eyes.” The album follows hot on the heels of their recent comeback track “Don’t Quit It” and arrives alongside the news of a six-date UK headline tour this October.

On the single, frontman Sam McTrusty shares,

“It’s about being at the other end of a relationship where you feel like no matter what you do, nothing is ever good enough. You take a step back and realise that in trying to appease that one person, you’ve blinded yourself to the fact that everything is great. Look outside of that window and life is much better.”

Separation From The Animals is a record forged through major life transitions and geographic shifts. Immediately after wrapping up their 2024 album Meltdown, frontman Sam McTrusty relocated his family and studio to Toronto, Canada. Isolated in a new environment, McTrusty began translating childhood trauma, familial division, and the painful complexities of masculinity into songwriting. Co-produced by bassist Ross McNae and featuring key arrangements from founding member Barry McKenna, the album uniquely marks the first time in years that all four original members recorded together on a Twin Atlantic project.

Sonically, the album expands the band’s arena-shaking alternative rock DNA by introducing classic 60s and 70s influences alongside heavy grunge nods. Tracks range from the massive, string-led balladry of “The Risk Of Love Is Always Loss” to the explosive, Nirvana-inspired grit of “Confidant.” The album also serves as a testament to the band’s healthy, flexible survival over a 13-year career; founding drummer Craig Kneale returns to lay down tracks for two songs, while legendary session heavyweight Ash Soan (Adele, Taylor Swift) anchors the remaining rhythm sections.

In addition to their newly announced autumn headline run, Twin Atlantic will spend the summer playing a series of high-profile outdoor support shows alongside pop-rock giants McFly.
