Jordan Henderson injured his wrist in a freak accident during a ‘Wonderwall’ singalong following England’s win against Mexico.
The early hours of this morning (Monday July 6) saw a huge victory for Thomas Tuchel’s side, who secured their place in the quarter-finals after beating Mexico – who had previously only lost two games at the Estadio Azteca – in a dramatic 3-2 victory.
However, England’s joy was dampened by Henderson’s injury, which occurred as the players ran to their fans to sing ‘Wonderwall’, as they have after all of their World Cup wins. As the Brentford midfielder climbed back over the hoardings to get out onto the pitch, he appeared to fall on his arm.
Medics were then seen attending to him before carrying him back to the England dressing room on a stretcher, and later to hospital for further treatment, with Tuchel telling ITV: “Not good, not good. Jordan fell over and injured his wrist, it looks really bad.”
It comes after England’s late victory last Wednesday (July 1), after which Liam Gallagher told fans to “keep the biblical vibrations going” in a bid to see us through to the quarters. It also takes place amid a huge resurgence of the Oasis classic, which was played during an emotional moment at an earlier match.
