Boston Manor Share Acoustic Version of ‘Drowned In Gold’ Ahead of ‘Be Nothing.’ 10-Year Anniversary Reissue

Boston Manor have released an acoustic version of their track “Drowned In Gold.” The song will appear on the upcoming reissue of their debut album, Be Nothing. (10 Year Anniversary Edition), scheduled for release on August 14th via Pure Noise Records. To celebrate the release, the band are set to play the album in full on their upcoming UK and US tour.

Originally released in 2016 and produced by Neil Kennedy, Be Nothing. earned critical praise for its blend of alternative rock and emotional songwriting, establishing the foundation for the Blackpool band’s subsequent musical progression. The original album spawned three central singles: “Laika,” “Lead Feet,” and “Fossa.” For the upcoming 10-year anniversary collection, several tracks have received acoustic re-imaginings, including “Laika,” “Lead Feet,” and today’s release, “Drowned In Gold.”

Of the track’s significance, the band’s guitarist, Mike Cunniff states,

‘Drowned In Gold’ was a really important song for us. It was written and recorded as a stand alone single with Mike Sapone while we were demoing new songs for Welcome To The Neighbourhood. In my eyes it was the perfect transition from Be Nothing. to Welcome To The Neighbourhood and allowed us to become more experimental with our music.

Reflecting on the decade milestone, bassist Dan Cunniff recalled the intense focus the band maintained during the original recording sessions, noting that they were highly conscious of how the record would hold up a decade into the future. He credited the album with opening doors for the band internationally, leading to their first sold-out headline tour across the UK and Europe.

Be Nothing. (10 Year Anniversary Edition) will be available on CD, digital platforms, and in several exclusive vinyl variants.
