“Anhedonia” is a stirring indie-rock success from NYC-based act Late Guest at the Party. Per the band, the release nostalgically represents “the reduced ability to experience pleasure that accompanies depression.”

Dazzling in its range of pulsing introspections and more anthemic vigor, “Anhedonia” develops with infectious enjoyment. “I’m aware there’s a weight, there’s a weight on my mind,” the vocals open following a bouncing bass presence and smatterings of electric guitar. An admission to being “in a state of denial” grooves into blaring, sporadic guitar elements, culminating in a punchy “turning me out, setting me off” hook. A rousing, replay-inducing rock success, “Anhedonia” marks another success from Late Guest at the Party, who first caught our ears a couple years back with the single “In Defense of Time.”
