The press write-up for Trench Warfare’s upcoming album Achtung! Destroy The Weak says the band’s new album “highlights a much heavier sound.” We’re honestly wondering how much heavier it could be; the band’s last album, Hatred Prayer, was unrelenting. Get much heavier and there will be other things than salad causing people to shit their pants in public.

One thing is certain: the band didn’t use the past six years to double down on sweetness and light. The eight tracks on this album are the equivalent of an M-80 thrown in a trash can or a bare-knuckle boxing match. “It’s been a long time since Hatred Prayer, pandemic or not,” vocalist Jay Gorania says. “Alongside my mother, I was a caregiver for my father for over a decade, very attentive to his daily needs. We had a family business together, a clinic. COVID essentially caused and spurred on his death. His impact upon me is profound, and I reference him by name several times across this album.”

In addition to personal challenges, the band changed considerably. Chief songwriter Tony Goyang left amicably after recording the new material, which also features drummer Ronnie Parmer of Malevolent Creation. “Trench Warfare is currently myself, longtime guitarist Dustin Putz, who wrote ‘Dissenter,’ and our new drummer JP Campo, who is primarily known for his work as a brutal death metal guy,” Gorania says. “We have never had a drummer as fiery, ambitious and wild as JP, so we are eager for the future.”

Decibel is premiering “Dissenter” below. Gorania says the song “is about a ruling element atop a hierarchy that has essentially been overthrown. That ruling class is the group of dissenters of the new social order and, as it’s presented in the first person, they’re gearing themselves for a return to power.” Give it a listen – it just might make you a sick POS.
