With ripping riffs that dance with the soaring vocals, The Haunt gives us a glimpse into the cinematic atmosphere and compelling storytelling. If it’s anything like “Worst Taste in Men,” it’s bound to be an undeniably pivotal record for the band and the fans who know an honest narrative when they hear it.
Just as noteworthy as their performances on the recording, the touching chemistry between Anastasia and Max showcases the siblings’ powerful balance of vulnerability and aggression. Goes to show what kind of beautiful ways we can alchemize our painful relationship wounds from toxic men into a soulful and melodic release.
With a sound breaching heavier, more exploratory territory, they still strike true through to the core:
“A loaded gun that just won’t shoot
and bet on a man who loves to lose
broken pieces I’ve tried to glue
I’ve spent forever trying to solve you
Edge of a blade that won’t cut through
it’s always the same, it’s nothing new
It doesn’t matter, tear my heart in two
I’ve spent forever trying to solve you”
Produced by Kevin Thrasher, “Worst Taste In Men” is ushering in a new era of The Haunt following their debut full-length New Addiction. While the band have confronted depression, anxiety, and dead-end relationships before, The Haunt have leaned even more into that with the talents of producers John Feldmann and Kevin Thrasher. If you couldn’t stop playing “Worst Taste in Men,” check out their other singles including “Own Me,” “Going Under,” “Bad Omen,” “Teeth,” “New Addiction,” and “Masochistic Lovers” (feat. Craig Mabbitt of Escape the Fate).
If it wasn’t clear from the lyrics, this man didn’t deserve Anastasia Grace. But he does deserve what she and her brother have to say about it on “Worst Taste in Men.”
