Tributes have been paid as police confirm that the woman who died at Houghton Festival in Norfolk was Ibiza DJ Santanna Oush.
Earlier this month it was revealed that police were investigating the death of a woman who was found dead in her tent at the 2026 event. Her identity was not shared at the time, but it was confirmed that she was found unconscious in a tent on a campsite on the last day of the festival.
She was pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday (August 9), despite efforts by on-site personnel to save her.
Police said they do not believe there were any suspicious circumstances, and in a statement shared on the festival’s Instagram page, organisers said they were “deeply saddened to confirm that a person has passed away at Houghton 2026”.
“Our thoughts are entirely with their family and loved ones at this difficult time. We are grateful to our onsite medical team, event response team and to Norfolk Constabulary, who all responded immediately.”
Now, the woman in question has been confirmed to be Ibiza DJ Santanna Oush, real name Santanna Maria Ally.
She was identified by a friend at the festival, and her sister Katy later confirmed the identity (via North Norfolk News).
Lynn News reports that an inquest was opened at Norfolk Coroner’s Court, and coroners said that suicide was the provisional cause of death.
The London-born DJ lived and worked in Ibiza for years and was a prominent part of the live music scene there – playing with artists including Confidence Man, KI/KI and Kölsch throughout her career.
She also helped found the OuShe parties, which were held at the Pikes venue in Ibiza and celebrated women in music. In a tribute, Pikes described Santanna Oush as “truly inimitable”.
“Having been a part of the Pikes family for well over a decade, our entire team is shocked, saddened and heartbroken at the news of her passing,” their tribute read. “Santanna, we are so beyond grateful to you for sharing your art, your music and your incredible voice with us at Pikes for all these years. You may have left this world too soon, but your talent, your spirit, your love, your light and your laughter will live on with us forever.”
Producer and DJ Bushwacka shared that it was a “tragic loss” and that the artist “brought so much love and laughter to many of us”.
“There needs to be more open conversation around the connotations of fragile mental health in our industry and beyond,” they added. “This has landed so close to home, having experienced the loss of several friends in the last year in our circles. Sending love to all affected by this devastating event.”
Fellow artist Bear Winder described Oush as “a force and a vessel of creativity, art, music, playfulness, fire, passion, talent and pure love, whilst championing everyone around you always.”
As well as online posts, Oush’s friend Marcus Eppy has also launched a JustGiving page to help cover her funeral costs. The target was £3,500, but it has already surpassed this and now sits at £9,200 at time of writing.
“I would like to thank each and everyone that has donated and continued donations, it shows just how much Santanna was loved and the impact she had on everyone’s life and still does,” Eppy wrote. “From the bottom of ours family’s heart we thank you all.”
