Characterized by her knack for absorbing storytelling, up-and-coming artist Christine Aggerholm, aka Carmie, is becoming a rising force in Denmark’s indie scene. She is also part of a new generation of Danish musicians helping to push a country-infused sound further into the spotlight.
Following the release of last year’s EP, Learn To Live, Carmie has continued to build her presence through performances at important festivals such as SPOT Festival and UHØRT. She also played her first international show in the Faroe Islands, while receiving significant recognition from GAFFA, which highlighted her as both Ugens Nye Navn and Hold Øje Med. On top of that, Carmie has received two Ugen Hittip selections on Danish national radio P4.
Leaning further into her country-inspired sound, Carmie returns with First Flight To France, a charming tale of two people falling in love at entirely different speeds. While one is only starting to realize what is happening, the other is already several steps ahead, picturing a future together complete with a house, a dog and, naturally, their very first trip to France.
While the country-infused sound remains at the heart of the track, Carmie wraps it in a delightful modern pop production, allowing uplifting beats and her charming vocals to take center stage. The result is a memorable composition that stays with you well beyond its runtime.
As Carmie reaches for exciting new musical territories, First Flight To France offers the first glimpse of her upcoming EP. If this single is anything to go by, the forthcoming record could reveal an entirely different side of this Danish artist.
