Track Premiere: Stellar Rot – “Through The Eternity Stairs”

It’s not often we get to premiere a more or less brand new band and their first release, but Baltimore blackgazers Stellar Rot are so fresh they aren’t even listed on Metal Archives (though the duo’s previous USBM outfit Unendlich are on there). The outfit was formed in 2025 by Scott Ferguson (drums/vocals) and Mike Connors (guitar/bass/synth) and we’re introducing them via the track “Through the Stairs of Eternity,” drawn from their upcoming debut, Where the Formless Ones Dwell. “Through the Stairs of Eternity” offers a juxtaposition of clean, melodic affected guitar layered over a harsh black metal framework. The result provides the track with a psychedelic buoyancy that somewhat smooths the abrasive edge.

Where the Formless Ones Dwell was recorded by Eric Ferguson and Mike Connors, while mixing and mastering was handled by Matheus Vidor at VOIDSEA Studio. It’s set for release on CD, vinyl and digitally via Hypnotic Dirge Records on September 25. Place your preorder (North America) here or here (overseas).

Drummer/vocalist Scott Ferguson described the featured track like this:

“‘Through the Eternity Stairs’ transports the listener on a cruel journey into the void beyond the mortal realm, where unfathomable horrors exist. This is where the sinister god of a thousand faces shifts the fate of all mortal beings, as he weaves his twisted plans through the fabric of reality. This track showcases what Stellar Rot embodies as a band—choral and symphonic atmospherics over a cold, black-metal spine.”
