KoRn appear to have finished recording their new album.

The Bakersfield, California nu-metal band released their first new music in four years recently with ‘Reward The Scars’, which they created for the video game Diablo IV: Lord Of Hatred. They also shared the gory animated video for the track.

Guitarist James ‘Munky’ Shaffer also recently shared that the band had written 40 songs for the follow-up to 2022’s ‘Requiem’.

Now, drummer Ray Luzier’s drum tech, Mark Bennett has appeared to confirm that they have wrapped up recording sessions for their new album.

Speaking during Luzier’s recent appearance on YouTube channel Drumeo, Bennett, while holding a Pearl Copper Free Floating snare, said: “This is what we just finished recording the new record with. They discontinued this drum. You can’t get it anymore. Thankfully, we have five of them.”

Bennett did not share any further detail on the record but Munky recently told Rolling Stone Brasil: “It’s taking a fucking long time. We’ve gone through… I swear to God, we’ve written probably almost 40 songs, and gone through ’em, and rewrote ’em, and got rid of ’em, and tore ’em apart, and rebuilt ’em.

“And it’s been quite a long process, because we’re very critical about what we do now. We’re very particular, in… because we wanna keep our original sound. You can’t really get away from that – when we start playing, it sounds like KoRn, especially with all five of us.”

In February, KoRn’s Brian ‘Head’ Welch gave Loudwire an update on where the band were at in terms of new music.

“We’re focusing right now on our live show,” he explained. “It feels like we don’t even need a new album. Everything’s just going so well, but that’s not to say we’re not going to find some time to go in again. I feel like it’s not [a] priority right now.”

However, he said the group were “going to meet together and see where we’re at”. Welch then teased: “There could be a couple of surprises this year. We’re going to have some cool announcements for dates around the world and stuff coming this year.”

The musician said in late 2024 that KoRn were “still working” on their next full-length project and had “got a lot of it [written]”, but warned fans that it wouldn’t be arriving anytime soon.

“And we’re very happy with what we got, but it’s just gonna take a while,” he went on. “And I don’t know how long – maybe next summer, maybe next year, the next winter, I don’t know, but it’s not gonna be soon.”

Elsewhere, KoRn’s hit song ‘Freak On A Leash’ recently went viral on TikTok, thanks to a new dance trend involving Zara Larsson.

The nu-metal giants are set to embark on a new headline tour, which will see them play across the UK for the first time in over a decade, as well as head across Europe for more shows. Visit here for UK tickets, and here for international tickets
