Marvel has re-released Avengers: Endgame in cinemas with extra footage, but it soon won’t be exclusive to the big screen.
The superhero epic, directed by the Russo brothers, became the highest-grossing film of all time when it was released in 2019. Seven years later, it has been repacked into Avengers Endgame: Encore, with four minutes of new material to tee up Avengers: Doomsday.
Robert Downey Jr. plays Doctor Doom in the upcoming sequel, and the new footage is designed to tie-in the villain to the closing events of Avengers: Endgame.
The Encore version was released in cinemas on September 25, ahead of Avengers: Doomsday later this year on December 16 in the UK.
Marvel and Disney have not officially announced a release date for Avengers: Endgame Encore on Disney+, but it will arrive on the streaming service eventually. This is based on the fact that it has a page on Disney+ already, albeit with only a trailer.
While we don’t know a specific release date at the time of writing (September 30), it will likely arrive on Disney+ before the release of Avengers: Doomsday on December 16, so it should be over the next couple of months.
The only film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe planned for 2027 is Avengers: Secret Wars, which is a continuation of Avengers: Doomsday. It’s scheduled for December 17, 2027.
Beyond that, Marvel has three films planned for 2028, between a reboot of X-Men, Ghost Rider starring Ryan Gosling and Black Panther 3 with David Jonsson.
