NEEDTOBREATHE has released “Past The Gates” featuring Anne Wilson. The song is the latest release from The Long Surrender and The Fellow Passengers of Pain, an expanded edition of the band’s recent album The Long Surrender, arriving November 19 via MCA.

The deluxe album adds six new songs, with contributions from Jonah Kagen, Evan Honer, Bre Kennedy, and other collaborators alongside Wilson. The original The Long Surrender was produced by nine-time GRAMMY winner Dave Cobb, whose credits include work with Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, and Sturgill Simpson. The expanded edition brings additional voices to the project’s exploration of letting go and the change that can follow.
“I have been a huge fan of NEEDTOBREATHE for years, so it’s truly an honor to be part of this special song and their new record,” Wilson said. “I’m incredibly grateful they asked me to join them, and I can’t wait for y’all to hear it!!!”
NEEDTOBREATHE’s Josh Lovelace said the collaboration marked the band’s first meeting with Wilson. “It’s always been fun for us to collaborate with other artists and friends. This song gave us a great opportunity to work with Anne, who we’d known about for years but had never met. We love how the song turned out. We are in a season of creating, releasing and continuing to keep moving. It’s freeing to be in that space. We just keep working, being inspired while walking into special moments along the way. This song is no different,” Lovelace said.
The band will follow the deluxe release with The Long Surrender and The Fellow Passengers of Pain Tour in early 2027. The 22-date U.S. headline run marks the second leg of its 2026 The Long Surrender Tour, opening February 18 in Omaha, Nebraska, and concluding March 20. Stops include Minneapolis, Kansas City, New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., Orlando, and Houston. Drew & Ellie Holcomb, Conner Smith, and The National Parks will join on select dates.
