Singapore slowcore trio Vegtable Release New single ‘Repetitions’

Vegtable share gorgeously enigmatic new single ‘Repetitions’ ahead of new album ‘Hit By A Car’ out Friday 16th October via Leeds DIY label Field Work Recordings.

Inspired by classic 90s indie-rock acts like Yo La Tengo, Red House Painters, and Duster, and the creative challenge of not referencing any songs released after 2000, ‘Repetitions’ reveals the trio’s brazen manipulation of space and time.

Much like the album’s title – inspired by a specific anti-climatic incident of a friend crashing into a car in near slow-motion – the track battles with its own sense of movement, seemingly at the point of near-standstill, but striding forwards regardless, with purpose, with mysterious action.

Speaking more about ‘Repetitions’, vocalist Daniel Borces says “When Jeriel (Lim) just joined the band, she was writing her own stuff, and she showed it to us, and we were like, this is cool, we can use it for Vegtable. The original version sounded like a Slow Pulp track, but our drummer Shenen insisted on cutting down as much as possible. He will even suggest sometimes not playing the drums at all. So the song ended up being something completely different. I don’t know what Jerieil is talking about in lyrics, and when I asked her, she’s very avoidant about the meaning”
