Reba McEntire Releases ‘I’m A Survivor’ EP for ‘Reba’ Anniversary

Reba McEntire I'm A Survivor EP

Reba McEntire has released I’m A Survivor – EP, a four-track collection that includes the version of “I’m A Survivor” made for her sitcom Reba. The release arrives as the show marks 25 years since its premiere this month, and makes the sitcom’s theme recording available for the first time.

Written by Phillip White and Shelby Kennedy, “I’m A Survivor” was first released on McEntire’s Greatest Hits, Volume III: I’m A Survivor in 2001. Tony Brown and McEntire produced that recording. The new EP opens with “I’m A Survivor (Official Show Theme Song),” produced by Brown, McEntire and Joris Wolff, followed by the original track, an acoustic version and a remix by LeahAnn “Lafemmebear” Mitchell. Dave Cobb and McEntire produced the acoustic version, while Mitchell produced the remix.

The song became closely associated with McEntire’s role as Reba Hart, a sharp-witted single mother. The sitcom was her first series television role and ran for six seasons.

The EP is also available for preorder on 7-inch vinyl, with the record scheduled to ship December 11. It is the seventh music capsule in a monthly series McEntire began in April to mark 50 years of her music. Earlier releases in the series include One Night In Tulsa, Hurt Like That, Ain’t Gonna Keep It Waitin’, Ring Ring, Tourist and Could Have Been Raining. Each capsule pairs a new release with songs spanning her career.
