Beyond The Music, Manchester’s global music conference, has announced Beyond The Band, a new one-day event designed to provide an all-access pass to the music industry for 16-25 year olds. Presented in partnership with Co-op Live and supported by Oasis’s management team, the event will feature a range of industry leaders, including Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, Oasis manager Marcus Russell, and Aitch’s manager, Michael Adex. Hosted by Manchester poet and rapper OneDa, the program will take place on Thursday, October 2nd.
This new initiative arrives at a pivotal moment for Manchester’s musical legacy. From the monumental Oasis reunion shows to the BRIT Awards leaving London for the first time to begin a new chapter at Co-op Live, the city’s music scene has reached new heights. Yet, statistics show that just 8% of the country’s creative jobs are based in the North West. For the event’s organisers, the mission is clear: to diversify, decentralise, and develop Manchester’s creative employment and opportunities.
Beyond The Band will enable and inspire the next generation of music professionals through insightful panel conversations, networking, and exhibitions. The program, which will take place in spaces like the Co-op Live & adidas Originals Recording Studio, will feature panels like “ON THE GROUND,” covering recording, management, and promotion, and “ON THE ROAD,” which will offer insights into touring and production.
To ensure the most ambitious new voices are represented, tickets for the free-entry event will be granted via an application process. Applicants at the beginning of their professional journey—whether managing a friend’s band or establishing a new label—are encouraged to make their submissions creative and clear in demonstrating why they should be a part of this vital opportunity.
