The new boy group under Starship Entertainment, IDID has made their official debut on September 15.
Their first EP album, "I did it," captures the essence of the "moment." The seven boys create their team's identity by unfiltered emotions and energy, unfiltered moments experienced and felt in their own unique way.
The title track, '제멋대로 찬란하게' or 'CHAN-RAN' marks the starting point for the team IDID. The song produced by Dem Jointz, is a brisk rhythm and refreshing melody intersect over a heavy hip-hop bass, creating a bold and confident direction. The song expresses the romance of pushing forward without refining emotions, a straightforward attitude that is rooted in the song itself. "Even if I fall and get hurt, that's me too." This single line embodies IDID's identity.
The music video weaves together scenes without a set narrative, capturing "momentary emotions" and "momentary atmospheres." Without being directed, they're more genuine than anyone else. Sitting on the floor, laughing nonsensically, running screaming, splashing water and getting wet—the members fill their summer days with such sincerity. Expressions speak louder than words, sincerity speaks louder than poses. More important than social media challenges is that the day was truly sincere. "Splendidly, Unbridled" brilliantly documents those moments of conviction, cheerfully, freely, and without any plan.
Their pre-debut track, 'STEP IT UP,' most directly showcases IDID's instinctive energy and confidence. 'SLOW TIDE' delicately depicts the ripples of emotion, while 'ImPerfect' acknowledges the imperfections of the self and cultivates confidence within them. 'So G.oo.D' captures an honest attitude toward boiling emotions, while 'STICKY BOMB' expresses the inner state on the verge of explosion with urgency and sincerity, without exaggeration. 'Taking Off - Through Your Dream' (飛必沖天)" and ' 'Blooming CROWN' rekindle the yearning built through the realities of survival.
"I did it." isn't a perfect first step. Rather, it's a self-indulgent, brilliant documentary of the "now," accurately recording the emotions and attitudes of this moment. And those emotions are the most powerful exclamation point for today's K-pop.
