Ghana will host its first-ever K-pop Fan Concert on December 20, 2025. The event will also serve as the inaugural edition of “Jaese Presents,” a new live show franchise designed to spotlight top musical talent from Thailand, South Korea, China, and Japan across Africa.
The fan concert is considered West Africa’s largest K-pop event, with an expected attendance of over 1,000 passionate fans. It will mark the first time a K-pop artist performs live in Ghana.
Ranked as the 5th top market for K-pop in Sub-Saharan Africa by Spotify, Ghana has made a name on the international scene through its ongoing interactions with K-pop culture. Among its earliest connections was TVXQ’s YUNHO’s visit to Ghana in 2013 as part of the Road for Hope project, which led to the construction of the Uno Education Center, a school in the Ghanaian town of Bongo.
Japanese-Korean singer Kangnam also visited Ghana on a cultural immersion trip alongside South Korea-based Ghanaian TV personality Sam Okyere. Additionally, Ghana is home to “Helping Hands,” a school built by B.A.P fans in Akosombo Ketem.
One of Ghana’s most significant contributions to K-pop on the global stage has been Pop Central on YFM, a popular K-pop radio show hosted by Winston Michaels and produced by Jaese. The show attracted listeners worldwide from Japan, the US and Mexico and earned recognition from Sony Music K-pop, Rolling Quartz, and Kevin Woo of K-pop Demon Hunters. Pop Central was also known for its annual K-pop Top 30 chart, where Jackson Wang emerged as the most-played soloist for three years in a row.
Jaese, the brains behind the concert, have facilitated interviews for K-pop acts on African media platforms. Artists such as KWON EUN BI and BM of KARD have appeared on radio interviews, while others including B.I, P1HARMONY, CIX, Fatou, BLACK SWAN, Kep1er, and Camo have been featured in magazine interviews.
The concert, under the “Jaese Presents” banner, is expected to pave the way for more Asian acts to engage directly with their Ghanaian and broader African fan bases. “Jaese Presents” aims to become a recurring platform for live performances by top-tier artists from East and Southeast Asia.
The news was confirmed by Ella Okunmwendia of Jaese, a music professional and advocate for K-pop in Africa. She and her team have championed African representation within the global K-pop scene and played a key role in promoting African market data from platforms such as Spotify and Turntable Charts.
In a statement, Ella Okunmwendia said,
“This is a moment fans have been waiting for, and we’re excited to see it finally happen. To us at Jaese, this is not just a concert — it’s an opportunity to showcase Ghana and Africa in a positive light. In the words of K-pop star TAEMIN, ‘It’s My Showtime.’”Further updates, including ticket information and the announcement of the performing artist, will be released in the coming weeks.
