Given the individuals involved there is precisely no surprise to hear it break down our door in a manner that nonetheless has a soft side that reminded of New Order of all bands. The guitars though they are turned out to pulse in a stampede fashion, the Barney Sumner like vocals adding levity before the cavalcade of noise appears again and give us a wind tunnel effect (akin to ‘She Sells Sanctuary’ by the Cult). Feels like we’re being swallowed whole and ‘Prairie’ makes for an invigorating listen as a result. KH
