Teen Suicide Unveil New Single ‘Spiders’ from Forthcoming Studio Debut

Indie-rock stalwarts Teen Suicide have released ‘Spiders,’ the second single from their highly anticipated album, Nude Descending Staircase Headless. Arriving April 17th via Run For Cover Records, the project marks a significant milestone as the band’s first-ever proper studio recording. Produced by Mike Sapone (Taking Back Sunday, Oso Oso), the album represents a massive leap in fidelity, trading the lo-fi grit of their earlier work for a polished, high-definition sound that retains their signature raw edge. While lead single ‘Idiot’ introduced the band’s heavier direction, ‘Spiders’ pushes those dynamics to the extreme, oscillating between shimmering verses and massive, fuzz-drenched choruses.

Of the single, Kitty Ray describes,

“I wanted to scream about a girl who tied knots in my mind… This is the first song I’ve written for a full band with a human drummer. Screaming has helped me find my voice.”

The track is particularly notable for featuring Kitty Ray on lead vocals for the entirety of a Teen Suicide song for the first time. Ray describes the writing process as a “venomous” response to a sunny Florida day, written during a moment of personal frustration. After debuting the song live in 2024, Ray admits she was initially terrified by the vocal demands, but through the recording process with bandmate Sam Ray, she found a powerful, howling delivery that matches the song’s towering riffs. As the band’s first composition written for a full-band arrangement with a human drummer, ‘Spiders’ serves as a definitive statement for this new, “hi-fi” chapter of their career.
