Memoryy – “Memory From A Dream”

A fantastic new track from Memoryy, “Memory From A Dream” is a melodic synth-pop charmer that pairs bright hookiness with thematic catharsis, capturing the power of moving on from past tumult. The track comes via Memoryy’s upcoming LP, Exit Interview, out this October. The project of Shaun Hettinger has caught our ears many times in the past, with tracks ranging from the hooky “No Time Like Now” to the dreamy “After The Rain,” and this latest success continues a strong knack for stirring songwriting and consuming productions.

Hazy synths lead quickly into a shimmering immersion, with bubbly arps and synth-y effervescence venturing into pulsating stomps of distortion. Right away, the track establishes a dynamic pull, embracing both vibrant approachability and bass-y intrigue. “I cannot wait,” his vocals build with climactic allure, cathartic in the arrival to the track’s memorable central hook. The “’til I won’t know your face from the strangers” lyricism here captivates, embodying the beauty of finally moving on from the past.

A catchy interplay of twangy guitars and bright synths then traverse into a “I won’t be looking backwards sometime soon” further sense of letting go from the past’s baggage. The verses showcase an introspective depth, tonally with shades of The Associates, while the central hook struts a modern punchiness — especially as chirpy guitars intertwine when the final minute approaches. “Memory From A Dream” is a gem of a track from Memoryy, whose upcoming album Exit Interview we’re fervently anticipating.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
