After spending an undisclosed amount of time hidden away in an East Anglian attic, The Healing Power of Horses have finally poked their heads out of the window to fire a flare gun at the music industry. The duo has signed with section1, the Los Angeles-based sister label to Partisan Records and home to the likes of Blonde Redhead and King Princess, to release their debut offering, “i wait, i sink.” Described as the result of a “heady evening spent blowing up audio interfaces,” the track is a restless, stomping piece of art that wrestles with its own intensity before detonating into a plume of distorted energy.

The band’s journey to this moment involves a retreat into the rural isolation of the Fenlands, a move away from their earlier days recording on single tapes in Glasgow. Now armed with an SSD full of new material, “i wait, i sink” serves as the opening salvo of what promises to be a fast-moving and unpredictable rollout. Between fixing air purifiers and navigating their dusty retreat, the duo seems blissfully unaware of the outside world’s gaze, though they’ve made it clear they wouldn’t mind if someone sent them a spare filter for their efforts.
