A balmy evening brought self-produced Korean rock band, ChRockTikal to Atlanta on their first world tour [CRTK: The Beginning]. The release of the group's first album We break, you awake, came highly anticipated as fans prepared to hear what Siyeon, Wonseok, Junyoung, and Gwanwoo had been working on.
The album is full of songs that are rooted in traditional rock, and metal-style sound. Bringing those songs to life on a stage can be daunting but the genuine personalities of each band member and the thrill of a new tour were apparent in the bated breath of the crowd. Songs like 'Victor' and 'KALish' had fans moving to the music and letting the instruments move through their veins at the intensity. And no one would ever forget how Siyeon's vocal range ignites the soul; 'KALish' is a polar opposite from 'Shame' but her voice would move any listener no matter the style. Fans sing along and even take on the mic in songs like 'RIDE' and 'Free!' where the feeling of community and joy thrum through the crowd.
Appropriately titled "Jam Time" allowed Wonseok, Junyoung, and Gwanwoo to show off their individual skills. Their cover of AC/DC's 'Back in Black' had the fans throwing their arms up and letting out pure excitement of hearing a rock classic. The band kept bringing the heat, especially as they featured their newest single. Creating the crossover of rock music and traditional Korean elements, they brought 'NAVI' to life on the MadLife stage. The band members find their center and energy as the sound builds and when the guitar drops everyone into the movement of the song, the crowd and the band let loose as one.
