JYT Shares New Song ‘First Time’

JYT First Time

The rising boyband JYT, whose name stands for Just Your Type, has dropped a new single. “First Time” blends pop and funk with a hint of disco to capture the excitement of falling hard for someone: “I want to meet your mother, hang out with your brother / Meet all your friends and tell them all that I love ya.”

Produced by Nova Wav (Beyonce, Rihanna), Freddy Wexler (Justin Bieber, BLACKPINK), PARISI (Fred Again), Max Margolis (Disclosure, Freya Skye), and Donny Bravo (Benny Blanco, Neyo), “First Time” was written by JYT alongside the production team and Candice Sosa (BTS).

“First Time” follows the previously released singles “No Pressure,” “Say Less,” and “What U Want.” With only three prior tracks released to date, JYT has also already surpassed 6 million global streams. The members, aged 15-17, have spent the past year training in Los Angeles, working with choreographers led by Nick DeMoura (Justin Bieber).

The release of “First Time” furthers the group’s breakthrough year. JYT’s five members, Caden, Tyler, Bryan, Recker, and Toby, recently concluded a 23-stop Summer Camp Tour across New York, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. They also performed at VidCon in June, where they hosted a fan meet-and-greet and collaborated with leading digital creators. After taking the stage at Z100’s Summer Bash in New York City, JYT will next perform at Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day on August 23.

Republic Records and Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer Freddy Wexler signed the group to bring back the ‘90s American boy band. “From the moment these five kids stood in a room together, I knew we had something special. JYT isn’t a manufactured boyband, they chose each other,” explained Wexler. “I’m thrilled to be partnering with Monte and the incredible team at Republic, with whom I’ve shared some of the most pivotal moments of my career. America hasn’t launched a global boy band in decades, and these kids are about to change that.”
